Phrva holds nothing back on his latest EP, Genesis, which stands out as his most honest project to date.
One of the underground’s rising voices, Phrva, is no doubt having a phenomenal breakout year. We aren’t surprised, though. We predicted his momentous rise early; he was one of our “Artists to Watch” of 2025! And boy do we love it when our spidey senses are right.
Since the start of 2025, Phrva has performed at Lightning in a Bottle, supported artists such as Tape B and Flowdan, and made his debut at Shambhala Music Festival. On top of all of that, he also gets to cross off another milestone on his list as he joins the Deadbeats family with his latest EP, Genesis. These six tracks really embody the raw talent Phrva possesses, all while showcasing his collaborative duality.
Genesis is a very much a ‘let me talk my s—‘ record. It’s all about confidence and not doubting myself. As musicians, and people in general, we’re so prone to comparison — questioning if what we’re doing is actually enough. This project was all about me saying ‘f— that, let me show what I can do.’
Phrva
Phrva’s confidence is evident from the start with the first track, “Genesis.” It’s hard to determine what went harder, its beat or swag-filled lyrics. Next, Killa P steps in to assist on “Like This.” Phrva comes correct to match the energy with a bouncy, edge-of-your-seat type beat. Then, “Collected” is a track that doesn’t need an introduction; it’s already a scene favorite. Don Jamal and Rakjay join in on the fun on this heater, solidifying it as a kill shot.
“Wanna Go” is on deck next, and once this track hits the sound system, the dancefloor comes alive. The playful energy is so contagious that it takes over your body like a virus. Listeners who appreciate good lyricism will enjoy hearing PAV4N on “Payday.” Boasting the most experimental beat so far, this song packs a punch.
We end our journey on a more gentle note with the help of Rico 56 on “Reach Me.” Phrva crafts a hypnotic soundscape that feels like a soft kiss on the forehead, the perfect end to the perfect beginning that is Genesis.
